Guelda Redman: A Mother's Love, A Leader's Legacy

Guelda Redman: A Mother's Love, A Leader's Legacy

There are few journeys more powerful than a mother's, except, perhaps, that of a mother who also leads a movement. As part of our Mother's Day Month celebration at Wellness Extract, we continue honoring remarkable mothers who nurture with strength and lead with heart.

Today, we're living the story of Guelda Redman, a mother of three, grandmother of two, farmer, and the vision behind the BC Women's Business Network. Let's learn more about her story! A life that is a reflection of not just one of entrepreneurship but of deep love, unimaginable loss, and the quiet, unshakable power that blooms when a woman embraces her motherhood.

Guelda Redman, A Mother Who Chose to Rise

Before Guelda was a businesswoman, she was a mom, fully immersed in raising her kids. Her children, their responsibilities, a quiet stretch of land surrounded by goats and sheep, a backyard garden, and then her! Yeah, like many mothers, she placed herself last even on her own list.

"Being both a mother and a business owner means wearing many hats. For years, I focused on raising my kids and never put myself first. It wasn't until later that I realized — taking care of yourself is just as important."

Who knows, this tiny realization of hers would change the lives of hundreds of women one day.

Her Son, Her Strength, Her Purpose

Guelda's slow and steady life in rural British Columbia took a heartbreaking turn. Her middle child, her son, began showing signs of mental illness and was later diagnosed with schizophrenia in his teenage years. Though it was a chapter filled with late-night worry, hospital visits, and emotional exhaustion, it also gave her extraordinary courage and a brand-new perspective on life.

"He showed me that no matter how dark life gets, there's always hope. He was doing things I would have been afraid to do — but with voices in his head, telling him how awful he was."

She did everything that any other mother would have done. Working from home allowed her to be there for her son at any time he needed. It was never easy, but it was worth everything. But life has other plans. In 2024, she lost him to an overdose. And yet, in the quiet grief that followed, she found a renewed purpose.

"He believed everyone hated him, but he kept going. He never stopped."

And that's what now fuels her everything: life and business. His story lives on in every woman she supports, every voice she lifts, and every ounce of compassion she brings to her circle.

The Birth of BC Women's Business Network

In 2017, Guelda founded the BC Women's Business Network after experiencing years of imposter syndrome and loneliness. What began as a local gathering is now a thriving community of women who uplift one another in life and business.

There's no gatekeeping in this community. It's a place of shared knowledge, genuine relationships, and, most importantly, encouragement that transforms. Over time, Guelda has watched shy, self-doubting women walk into their full power. From launching businesses to showing up on reels with confidence, every little step makes them believe in their own worth. About her business, she proudly adds,

"We talk about business, but we also talk about life. We talk about our personal lives. Everybody has a story to inspire."

The Act of Mother's Balance

And here comes the most beautiful part of Guelda: balancing motherhood and business. However, she doesn't believe in striking a perfect balance but filling your presence right where it's needed the most.

Right now, she's continuing her journey, holding space for other women, encouraging them to start before they're ready and to put themselves on the list. And this all comes with nurturing the little ones and family around her, her children, grandchildren, and friends.

Some days are filled with client calls and strategic plans. Others with caring for her children's needs. And many days, with both, all at once.

Guelda's Million-Dollar Advice to Mothers Starting Out

"Your struggles, remember that you are enough. You're more than enough. By putting yourself first, you can do incredible things both for yourself and for the world around you."

Yes, that's what Guelda advises her younger self and the mothers around her. Whether you're running a business, raising children, grieving a loss, or rediscovering yourself, you're enough, and you can do it. And that even in the most difficult seasons, there is always strength, hope, and purpose.

To All the Mothers Out There, It's the Right Time

"If I knew then what I know now, I would've started sooner. And I would've told myself — it's okay to put yourself first."

That's what Guelda feels about her life so far. Her story is a reminder resilience is a muscle we all have. Wellness Extract celebrates Guelda Redman and mothers like her, who nurture it with love and grace. We will continue to bring the more stories like this one. Because every mother deserves to be seen, supported, and celebrated.  They don’t just inspire us but also transform the world.
